New lodges are formed when members of a lodge seek permission from Grand Lodge for form a new lodge; this can be because members have a specific interest and wish to create a lodge based around this (eg. Motorcycles, Sports, Craft Beer, Rock music..) or when a lodge becomes particularly successful in terms of membership numbers.
Fifteen of the founding members of Vale Lodge were members of Ferdinand de Rothschild Lodge No. 2420, and this is our ‘Mother Lodge’. As with any well established Lodge, Ferdinand de Rothschild was at that time developing at a healthy rate and a group of its most active Brethren decided to take the necessary steps to establish a new Lodge since the length of time required to achieve the Masters’ Chair in our Mother Lodge was becoming excessive.
You can see Aylesbury Lodge was also established by members from Ferdinand de Rothschild lodge; this is our sister lodge, and they meet at the same lodge room, but on different days to us.
