For these and all thy mercies given
We bless and praise thy name Oh Lord
May we receive them with thanksgiving
Ever trusting in thy word.

To thee alone be honour – [SILENCE!] – glory
Now and henceforth forever more.

Amen

Note: the silence after the word ‘honour’ is still broken by some brethren singing ‘and’; it is remarkable that after more than 300 years this still persists, but is a constant joy to hear during any festive board, as it will be pounced upon by the brethren at large, in a playful and amused way immediately afterwards! Possibly in other parts of the country it is customary to fill this space, but this is all part of the minute differences that distinguish one lodge or province from another.
